I make little gift baskets for friends and neighbors all the time. It gives me a chance to "GIVE BACK" to my community.
Bath baskets are really easy(and cheap)to make.
With the invention of melt and pour soap bases nearly any handmade soap can be crafted into a specialty soap and adds so much to a small gift basket.
Melt and Pour Soap can be purchased at good craft supply stores in the soap supply departments.
It is just as it says---"melt and pour"
Add chunks of melt and pour soap base to a large microwave-proof bowl. Melt the base soap on high in the microwave for one minute ( or according to the manufacturer's directions) and stir any non- melted pieces.
Fragrant oils
Add any scents after the base is melted.
Essential oils
Add any essential oils just before pouring into molds for the soap. Tip: Poke a hole in 2-3 vitamin E capsules and drain the contents.
Molds:
You can use anything from candy molds(please DO NOT use for candy after using them for soaps) to muffin tins.
Pour your melted soap into the mold. Allow it to cool before popping it out of the mold.
Allow it to dry completely before using.
Honey Beez
4 oz melt and pour soap base (Tip:use the opaque base)
1 Tbs Beeswax pellets
1 Tbs honey (grab it out of the kitchen cupboard)
Melt the soap base and then mix in the beeswax.
Add the honey and keep stirring until melted.
Pour into a mold.
Cool as a Cucumber Soap
4 oz melt and pour soap base
1 fresh cucumber
soap dye and/or fragrance, optional
In a blender, puree the cucumber in a blender then add enough water to make 9 ounces. Melt the liquid together with the soap
Add dye and/or fragrance and pour into molds.
A soap basket really adds THAT SPECIAL TOUCH to your guest bathroom, too.
