Shower Water Filters - The Hidden Benefits
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Shower water filters have grown in popularity in recent years. There is a lot of research and information available today concerning the hidden dangers of tap water in the shower. Chlorine, VOC's and other harmful chemicals that have been found in tap water pose legitimate concern when showering. Many people use shower filters because they remove the smell from the tap water, but there are quite a few more benefits.

Here are some benefits that maybe you didn't know:

1. Shower filters promote soft skin and hair. Chlorine and other chemicals tend to dry the skin, depending on the concentration of them in the water. Chlorine reacts with the bodies natural moisture and dissolves it off of the skin. Chlorine also affects the softness of hair. Shower filters do a great job in reducing the levels of harmful chemicals in the water, which is very beneficial for hair and skin.

2. Shower filters help with respiratory conditions. Many people are sensitive to chemicals and pollution in the air. When you shower, the chemicals in the water are vaporized and put into the air. Bathrooms tend to have high levels of chloroform in the air, which is inhaled and can have negative effects on the body. Concentrated levels of vapor in a confined space can cause irritation to sensitive persons. Many people with respiratory sensitivities could benefit from shower water filtration.

3. Shower filters are even more beneficial than drinking water filters. Filtering shower water removes more chemicals and contaminants than drinking water filters. The body can absorb more contaminants and chemicals from one shower than it can from drinking 8 glasses of tap water. Skin absorption happens when the skin comes into contact with the chemicals and contaminants. The contaminants are then absorbed through the skin and directly enter the blood stream. It is beneficial to filter both types of water for complete protection.

4. Shower filters are extremely cost effective. One quality shower filter can filter shower water for the entire family for six months! Filter replacements are very inexpensive and are very easy to replace. Some drinking water filters, such as reverse osmosis, can be very expensive over time. If you have two bathrooms in the home, two filters and replacements would cost you just pennies per shower. See Shower Filters

5. Shower filters can improve your overall health and appearance. Filtering shower water is an easy way to reduce a good portion of the chemicals that you come into contact with on a regular basis. Women, especially, can benefit from filtration because they tend to stay in the shower for extended periods of time. Elderly persons and infants can also benefit from removing chemicals from the water because they tend to have weaker immune systems than the general population.
