Shea butter is a yellowish natural fat that is extracted from the fruit of a shea tree. It is often used in cosmetics as a moisturizer and skin soother. Besides the moisturizing and skin soothing characteristics of shea butter, it is also an anti-inflammatory agent. It has been proven to be an effective treatment for fading scars, eczema, burns, rashes, acne, severely dry skin, age spots, discolorations, chapped lips, stretch marks and wrinkles. It can also relieve some of the irritation associated with psoriasis.
