Setting a Goal With Your First Ebook Publishing

Expert Author Joshua Black

When you are creating your first ebook, it can be a daunting task that overwhelms many people. However, it doesn't have to be that bad. There are many little tricks you can use to get through your first project, the biggest of which is to have a system for building the book. Read on to find out more.

When you create your first book, you need to develop a new level of discipline for yourself. You are going to have to work on your project every day until it's completed. The idea behind doing something every day is that you need to maintain the forward momentum in order to finish the project.

You don't have to work on your e-book for hours at a time. Just create a goal to work on it for 30 minutes, to create just 1.5 pages of text, or to develop an e-book graphic. The idea is to pick a small goal that will be easy to accomplish. Once you attain that small goal, you will want to keep working, which will lead to even more getting done.

Pick a due date that you want to have the project accomplished by. You need to treat this like a real business and in the business world there are deadlines. Without your first product being released you will never get to release your second product and so-on. Therefor you need to give yourself a deadline and stick to it like your boss gave it to you. You are your new boss.

Your first book will take the longest to develop, but once you have done that, you will be well on your way to creating your own system. Once you have the tools for making e-books, you should be able to create a small report and have it up and running in about a week. Larger project will take a little more time, but there is no reason that you need to spend any more than a few months of working part time on an ebook, in order to completely finish it.

If you are spending too much time on your first project, chances are that you are not that interested in the topic, or your are fighting a case of analysis paralysis, where you are sifting through too much research. To combat this, you should create and outline that will help guide you through your information product, just like a road map.
