Setting Up a Garden Home Office - Consider a Log Cabin

Choosing which types of garden offices to have installed garden can be very challenging as there are so many different styles to choose from. In fact it is worth spending some time before you make a purchase to look at the various models of garden offices to find the one most suitable for installing in your garden.

When doing the research it is a good idea to keep in mind certain things when it comes to whether you get yourself a garden office or not and below we look at what some of these are.

1. You need to be looking for garden offices which provide a good source of natural light and which can provide you with sufficient electrical points to connect your office equipment to. If you intend to be installing computers into this space then don't have too much natural light being allowed in as some of the equipment (monitors) tends to be sensitive to it.

As well as plenty of electrical points within the space and the good supply of natural lighting it needs to be one that is well ventilated without having to resort to leaving doors open. Also as you want a space that won't cause you to be disturbed from outside it needs suitable sound proofing and be well insulated (roof, floors and walls) so that the space can be utilized throughout the year.

2. When thinking of having an office installed in your garden you need to think about what size of building it is you are going to get. Remember that the office will have to stand no less than 5 meters away from the external walls of your home and no less than 1 meter from any boundaries to the property. Plus you need to make sure that the office won't take up more than 50% of the space available in your garden, because if it does then planning permission from the local authority will need to be sought.

3. If you do find you have sufficient space for a garden office the next decision you need to make is what style you want it in. But it is best that you go for something that actually sits in with the design and look of the rest of your property. You won't be spoilt for choice but you should make the supplier of the office aware exactly what it will be used for.

4. After selecting a style you now need to make a decision as to what material the office will be constructed from. If you property is an older property then going for those constructed from wood is preferable. But if you live in a more modern construction and don't want to worry about having to care for your office space too much ones constructed from metal would be the preferred option for you.

Yet today there are plenty of companies now manufacturing garden offices which are constructed from wood but are very well insulated and don't require too much maintenance once installed. These are constructed from insulated panels that have been attached to a foam core and over which 2 covers of oriented strand board have been placed. These are not only environmentally friendly but also much stronger than conventional garden sheds tend to be.

You can see the benefits to having an outdoor garden office installed and it can help improve your productivity when working from home. Walton Garden Buildings also supply a range of sheds where you can store extra equipment if needed.
