It is very important to communicate clearly in the workplace. Why? When a clear message is communicated to the staff, productivity exponentially increases.
As a workplace diversity trainer I have studied what it takes to get a clear message to a diverse staff. For example, due to diverse experiences, education, location where one grew up, people respond to the same message differently. In order to ensure you increase productivity, I highly recommend you spend some quality time with your staff to find out exactly what they think of a message you send to the organization.
For example, if you tell your staff they need to make sure they deliver excellent customer service to all clients, the response will be different for al of them. Part of the response staff members provide will depend upon the level of prior experience employees had with a previous employer, others respond based on what the way they were trained, while others will response based on their unique style of responding.
Communication is king when it comes to achieving organizational success. In part, the success of an organization depends upon what the foundation the leader of an organization establishes during their tenure. Even though differences in communication differs, similarities also exist, such as wanting to be one of the best customers service organizations in the industry, giving the type of customer service you would like to receive and provide in the level of effort required to achieve excellence.
Lack of communication has started wars, resulted in divorce, initiated gangs and broken up families. I am writing this to let you know, what you say is powerful and how you say it speaks volumes about your ability to relate to other human beings and or the organization they work with.
How does one communicate a message people remember for years on end, the key word is sensitivity. Whenever we speak to diverse organizations, we must be sensitive to the audience we are speaking to. Many a celebrity and or politician have communicated poor messages and it ruin their careers and worst, it created a climate most organizations and people will not tolerate.
Sensitivity is the word of the day when it comes to communicating a clear and succinct message to your diverse audience. Your communications success will dramatically increase as long as you keep sensitivity at the forefront of your messages. Here is to your success!
