If you've already got a website, then you might be feeling frustrated and annoyed that the sales are not YET rolling in.
Well you'll want to pay close attention to this article and start implementing to get more sales and leave your customers thanking you for reading their minds!
The biggest mistake people make when looking to make sales on the internet is forget there are people on the other end of that screen. People with real lives.
Internet Customers ARE Real People
Let's think about this. Customers are people just like you. They get up in the morning, have breakfast, feed the kids, make the lunches (come September), run off to work, make dinner, do homework, do chores, visit friends, run a business, etc, etc, etc...
They don't always have time to find solutions to problems that come up. So when they DO have a moment or two, instead of calling up five friends for advice like they might have in the 'olden days', they go to 'GOOGLE' and type in their issue.
Get Inside The Mind of a Potential Customer
As a marketer you MUST put yourself inside the mind of a potential customer or client and meet them where they are at.
Don't try to sell someone something they don't need, are not looking for or simply don't want. You must use the crazy vast resources available to you as a business owner (you choose!) to find out what real people are really looking for and serve them that.
Here are just a few of the tools you can use to act like a mind reader in the eyes of your customers:
- Website Analytics
- Shopping Cart Analytics/Patterns
- Keyword Analytics
- Talking to REAL People/Real Feedback
- Surveys
- Blog Comments
- Emails From Customers and Potential Customers
- Testing (Emails, Salespages, etc)
Yes that means you must adjust. Yes that means you must study. Yes that means you must be flexible. Yes that means you must test and track. But that's business! A great business moves with the needs of it's customers every. single. time.
Now I'm not suggesting you do stuff you hate just to make a buck - not at all. But you must find that sweet spot between what you deliver and what people are crying out to receive. When you find that spot you will never want for sales again.
It doesn't matter what you sell. If the market you chase doesn't want it then it's a very HARD sell. On the other hand, if you're market is crying out for what you have then you become the hero instead of the sleezy salesperson.
I don't know about you but I'd being a hero anyday!
