Perhaps one of the best employment opportunities in today's job market is starting your own business. There can be many advantages in doing so; here are three of the most important:
- More Pay Perhaps the best advantage comes from having more pay than those who work for someone else. The laws in the United States of America are generally set up to benefit those who own their own business, so there are often numerous expenses which can be tax deductions for a new small business. A Certified Public Accountant or other tax professional can provide detailed advice on which deductions are permitted. These deductions then have the effect of increasing the personal income for business owners.
- Better Job Security When working for a traditional employer, you can have the worst of all possible worlds: many bosses, such as your immediate supervisor, any managers above them, and even some customers as well, while you still receive only one paycheck. On the other hand, when you own your own business, you have multiple bosses as well, yet you also have multiple sources of income. Should one or more of these disappear, you still have some time to respond in many cases. Consequently, your actual job security is much higher than it would be if you only worked for one company.
- Additional Freedom When you are self-employed, it is much easier to take time off when you need or want to. This can be highly beneficial when you have other commitments, such as family or friends, who frequently need your help. Other sources of freedom can include the ability to make the rules in the workplace, to set your own hours, and to fire clients who are not a good fit for your products and services. These can all lead to a much higher quality of life when you have the freedom to call the shots.
In short, there are many excellent reasons for starting your own small business. These include, but are certainly not limited to, more pay, better job security, and additional freedom when you work for yourself. With all these advantages, it is no wonder that some small business owners would never work in a traditional job again.
