Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

There are many benefits to making scented candles. The main benefit is that you don't have to spend extra money in order to get scented candles. Scented candles at stores can be very expensive due to the strong scents that last for a long time. When you choose to make your own candles at home, the fragrances are affordable and allow you to customize them to your preferred color and scent.

You don't need to have a lot of experience with candle making. In order to make scented candles you need to follow some specific safety precautions since the procedures involved can be risky.

The first step in making scented candles is to have the necessary supplies prepared and performing the following steps:

First, prepare your wax. Often the best option is paraffin wax since it is easy and cheap for any type of candle. You will also need to have a wax or candy thermometer on hand. If you are going to color your candle then you will need to prepare a colored powder, liquid or solid pigment chip. Have a mold on hand in the shape of the candle you want. Lastly, you need to choose a fragrance for your candle. There is the option of a liquid or solid scent.

Liquid scents can be more difficult to use, but the fragrance stays in the candle a lot longer. Scents work with any type of candle design whether they are long and skinny or short and wide. You also need to carefully prepare the heat source you will use. When it comes to melting wax, you will need to follow some safety precautions. When it comes to melting wax, you want to use equipment that is easy to use and clean.

If you are going to make a regular pillar candle, you will need a pound of wax. The wax is placed in a pouring pot and a thermometer attached. When the wax is melting it shouldn't go over 300 degrees since it will catch fire at 375 degrees. However, you want consistent heat so that the wax remains a liquid.

Because of the wonderful scent, scented candles have become very popular among hobbyists in the United States. Entrepreneurs have made a lot of money making scented candles due to the high demand for these today. Nearly 75% of candle sales have been linked to scented candles.

If you have ever used scented candles you know they provide a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere in the home and provide a feeling of pleasure and well-being for individuals.

When it comes to making your own scented candles the most important decision you have to make is whether you want to use synthetic chemicals or natural essential oils. However, you should stick with approved ingredients only. Companies that sale candle supplies have a number of fragrances to choose from.

There is somewhere between 500 and 800 aromas in both chemical and natural oil form that are safe to use and provide pleasing results. The high-quality chemicals used as fragrances in candles are also used in soaps, shampoos, lotions and perfumes. So this should be enough to choose form in order to enjoy the hobby.
