All in all, one can look at the added benefit of seeking such information before they get married to a prospective spouse.
In the past, retrieving these documents was quite a horrendous task due to the lack of technology. During this process, persons who were usually professional investigators and government officials had to locate a local government office and search through literally thousands of folders of records. With the emergence of the technological age, many people can now access these records, especially marriage records online.

In fact, marriage records search is quite a common practice since recent times and all it requires is an observation of the rules and regulations within this process.
Usually, a marriage record search is able to provide you with a lot of information regarding the person being searched. When requesting such information, the license and certificate is presented which under any circumstance would both be needed for any purpose.
Usually, there are three copies of a marriage license in which one belongs to the couple, the official of the ceremony and the government office with this function. As this information is now available online, only the certified hardcopies are seen as valid for any official purpose. However as these records are governed by state laws, each state may have variations in this requirement.
