The government in many countries has been trying to bring illegal drugs in their territories under control and this has been happening for many years. With this being the case, we would have hoped that by now, this problem would have been a thing of the past. However, this is not the case, indeed, the problem persist and our children have increasingly become the targets of those who control these things.
Every child will respond differently to the effects of these substances within their bodies and as with everyone else who uses it, they are not immune to becoming abusers of them. In fact, because their bodies have not been fully developed yet, they are most likely to suffer greater harm from them.
Therefore, if you have a teenager or you have influences in the life of one and you are concerned that he/she may have been abusing drugs, if the following signs are present in the young person's school life, they may be an indication that this is the case.
However, as you consider these signs, it is best if you are able to group these things together. Simply picking one or two of them from the group and concluding that this is the case with the child is not recommended.
Additionally, seeking professional help is always the best way to go with matters like these.
Drop In Grades
If you notice that there is a steady drop in his/her grades and there is no other explanation for it, you could consider this possibility.
A steady drop does not only mean a worst grade in the mid-term or end of term results. No, it also means in the weekly test, the homework, and the other school assignments.
Therefore, it is a given that you will need to be consistently involve in his/her educational work.
Truancy
If the child is known for being at school on time and on a daily basic but suddenly he/she is skipping school or arriving late, or not at all, everything is not alright.
It may be that you are driving him/her to the door of the school and you watch the child walk through the door, but later that morning you may still get a call from the office asking about the child.
Loss Of Interest
It is highly possible that at one point or another, a school age person could loose interest in their educational activities. In fact, from the very start, some of them will inform us both verbally and by their actions that they are not interested in these things.
Nevertheless, if the great or little interest that they have been showing has or is slowly or suddenly disappearing, please do not ignore it.
Bullying
There hardly are parents around who will be happy to be told by a teacher or other students that their child is a bully. It is also true that lately we have been throwing the word bully around as though it classifies everyone who tells us to do some thing.
For example, if the supervisor says that we were put on the nightshift for two weeks in a row and we had no say in the decision, we may immediately cast him/her as one.
However, this may not be the case. It may simply be him/her carrying out their part of the job for their employer.
Nevertheless, if the young person do fit the definition of a bully, something needs to be done.
He/she may have taken up this role to obtain money from others to sustain this dangerous habit of drug abuse.
Fights
This is also another indication that a teenager may have lost his/her control over these substances. Yes, getting into fights, whether he/she started it or not. This may be because of the negative effects that the substance is having in the body.
Yes, when it was not in the child system, he/she would have walked away from a fight but now, unleashing on someone is no longer a concern for him/her.
