Saving Big at Free Government Surplus & Seizure Auctions

If you have never heard of a free government auction then you've been missing out on a great way to save money on all manner of goods and items. Anyone can participate as long as they are eighteen years of age and have a valid driver's license or id. There is no cost to those who attend unless of course they buy something.

Government auctions are comprised mainly of surplus and seized properties that governmental agencies are trying to get rid of. These two types of properties come from different places but both can be had at significant discounts. Most of these auctions are a combination of the two which means there is a lot to choose from.

A surplus auction is just what it sounds like; an auction of stuff that the government no longer wants or needs. Surplus items come from all levels of government including federal, state, county, and city sources. These items aren't necessarily top of the line because of bureaucratic agencies needs to keep costs down but they are well taken care of and maintained. Cars, trucks, computers, and office supplies, equipment, and furniture can all be bought for pennies on the dollar. These auctions can be a great place for small businesses to get cheap equipment and furniture.

The seized properties at a government auction are the higher end items for the simple fact that most of them come from non government sources. Most of these items come from the private sector, private citizens, and criminals who run on the wrong side of the law. They have been seized to pay back taxes, recoup the balance remaining on defaulted loans, or in the case of the criminal element law agencies can seize just about anything that is felt to be purchased because of criminal activity. This can include expensive sports cars, luxury sedans and SUVs, real estate, jewelry, electronics and just about anything else you can think of.

Since there is no profit motive in these auctions because the government is simply looking to recoup the overall cost associated with storing and auctioning off these goods. This keeps starting bids low and ensures that bargains can be had for a whole range of goods.

If saving money is your game then you need to check out the next free government surplus and seizure auction near you.
