Save Time & Money by Applying Your Own Concrete Sealer

After a particularly rainy spring season I was distressed to find my basement thoroughly flooded. The constant dampness had not just created standing water we had to pump out, but it also permeated deep within our foundation and through our walls. Our wood paneling was absolutely destroyed beneath the surface and the problem had worsened without our awareness.

It will now cost upwards of $25,000 to install completely waterproofed fixtures for our basement. My contractor wanted to charge me an arm and a leg for waterproofing. I will need his expertise for part of the project, but there are parts I will be completing myself to save money.

I consistently kick myself because had I known about the growing problem I could have used a concrete sealer to slow down and even stop the moisture from creeping in. As we look to repair our basement I intend to use a concrete sealer on an ongoing basis. Concrete sealers are easy to use, effective in waterproofing, and inexpensive in comparison to bringing in a contractor to complete the work.

Here are a few quick facts about concrete sealers for your reference:

-They help fight molds, mildew, dampness, flooding, cracks, condensation, mustiness, and radon gas
-Various different types are available for purchase. Make sure that you match the sealant you buy to the area affected to ensure your concrete withstands the wear and tear it will receive over time.
-Be sure to use a sealant consistently to avoid compromising your structures and/or items.

You will save time and hassle with a do-it-yourself concretesealer as long as you're willing to put in a small amount of time and effort simply following directions. Good luck with your sealant!
