SEO target marketing is not about getting the most visitors to your website, but the most targeted visitors. This will be much more profitable for you and Google will love you for it.

  • Google tracks your bounce rate - if most of your visitors are hitting the back button, Google knows this and will punish you. Your objective as a site owner or blogger is to get targeted traffic, so that Google says, "Hey, people are staying here. This must be what they're looking for!"

If you're not familiar with Google Analytics I highly recommend this tool as it's free and calculates your bounce rate. Even if you have targeted traffic, you might consider adding something to draw in visitor attention because if people don't see something they like quickly they're outta there!

  • Targeted visitors are more likely to purchase or contribute - If you're grabbing tons of traffic for the term "pimples" you might think you hit the goldmine and will sell tons of acne products - WRONG! Sure, you'll get tons of traffic, but it's not buyer traffic. If you had good position for the term "get rid of pimples now" then you would make a fortune with 1/100th of the traffic as "pimples" as long as you sold a convincing information product that removed pimples fast!
  • Builds authority and Page Rank - Lowering your bounce rate, ranking for long tailed keywords, and stimulating interaction from your visitors will eventually make you an authority in your niche. Of course, there is some link building involved, but once you achieve an authoritative status you will rank on the first page of Google for pretty much anything related to your niche.
