I know how expensive traditional advertising can be and most of the time it is out of reach for new businesses.

This can be frustrating when you want more profits and clients!

Smart business owners are looking online to help them bring in more business. Online marketing and SEO in particular is the holy grail when it comes to growing your business with minimal cost. A friend of mine has his own practice. He had a few clients but not what he expected when started.

Since I was a small business owner myself, he asked if I had any ideas that would help him increase his clientele.

So I gave it a day or two and I came up with the perfect plan!

I will tell you the three steps I told him to take that worked like a charm. It increased his exposure and got him phone calls coming in left and right.

1. Submit your site and business to the search engine directories.

Google, Yahoo and MSN all have a business directory. So when someone searches, "your city + your services" your business will show up. Visit each search engine to add your business and site to each.

2. Local SEO - This is where you do SEO to rank for your keywords that pertain to your local area or city.

This is a lot easier than trying to rank for broad keywords. In most cases you can get ranked within a week!

3. Local PPC Ads - Now this may cost you a couple of hundred dollars but it is well worth and less expensive than a yellow page ad or TV commercial.

Be warned, this may take time, especially if you have a business to run. Be sure that you block time to get these tasks done.

You will be amazed with the results.
