If you're looking for an innovative way to play the Zerg vs Zerg matchup, you need to try out this strategy: mass Queens & Roaches. This will allow you to fend off almost anything that the opposing player can throw at you, and should make for some fairly quick games. This strategy is fairly simple, allowing you to beat more skilled Zerg opponents.
This Zerg vs Zerg strategy is very flexible, and will allow you to use it in a variety of ways. You need to scout your opponent early, if he goes for a fast expand, then you should do the same. But if your opponent is not expanding and just playing off one base, he's likely going to rush you with Zerglings & Banelings to end the game early.
Start off like any other build, getting your Spawning Pool and extractor up. As soon as your Spawning Pool gets finished, make a Queen and put down a Roach Warren. The first Queen that comes out will be used to Spawn Larva on your main Hatchery and defend against any early Zergling pressure.
Right about the same time your first round of Larva pops off the Hatchery your Roach Warren will get done. Make 4 Roaches and move them out to your ramp immediately to block any Zerglings or Banelings that try to get into your base. Keep making Queens at your Hatchery.
Use your second Queen to start spreading creep across the map. You're going to want at least 3 creep tumors working to spread creep, the more you have the faster it spreads. Your Queens are going to be used for offensive purposes, so you need creep everywhere to give them movement speed.
As your creep expands across the map, march your Roach & Queen army out with it to protect the creep tumors. When you get confronted, use your Queen's to Transfuse your Roaches and Queens to keep them alive for as long as possible. The more Queens you have the more Transfusions you'll be able to cast.
If you get attacked by Mutalisks your Queens will be able to take them out easily. Surround your Queens with your Roaches to take some of the bounce damage from the Mutalisk attacks. Then just infuse your Queens as they get low and target fire down the Mutalisks.
Though this strategy is simple to execute, it does take a bit of practice and some micro management, but once you have it down you'll become a force to be reckoned with. Not only that, but a lot of Zerg players don't expect mass queens in this matchup, so you're likely to catch your opponent by surprise too.
