Rubber mulch is obtained by recycling old tires.  The impurities and chemicals contained in tires are removed using procedures involving high temperature and pressure and the resultant rubber is made into granule form and given required colours.  The easy availability of used rubber tires has pushed down the costs of rubber mulch to a great extent.  It is also noteworthy that the material is easily available throughout United States and some states including California and Washington are known as the most prominent users.

Rubber mulch, as you know, can prevent weed growth and prevent soil erosion.  Landscape mulching was in vogue for some years now by many more applications have also come up recently.  Differently coloured granules add to the charm and desirability of a landscape.  Gardeners use colored rubber mulch to increase the beauty of the surroundings of the garden.

Rubber mulch helps prevent fatal accidents in playgrounds and equestrian arena.  They provide sure footing to children and in case a fall occurs, cushion the child from getting injured.   It is also mentionable that most rubber mulches are long-lasting too.

Rubber mulch, if manufactured in a thorough and professional way, can prevent environment degradation.  Such mulches would be beautiful looking, are non-toxic, and odor free, non-staining, dries up quickly, are resistant to freezing and are non-abrasive.  Added advantages are that it stays in place, thereby cutting down maintenance costs and would not allow growth of insect pests.  Being fungus resistant, colored mulch is best suited for your garden, farm or even agricultural land.
