Roam in the Yangshuo Town

We didn't really do much during the day after the long and tired bus travel. At night, we decided to go out of the town to wander around and do some shopping and tasting local delicacies there. We were getting hungry and started to look for a place to eat. Everything looked well, but we were curious to see how splendid the local Sheraton five-star luxury hotel restaurant was. For 400 Chinese Yuan, you definitely could eat marvelous Chinese-Western mixture dishes such as Garoupa Fish caught from the Li River. Frankly speaking, some things there looked really good, but we don't have an extra 800 yuan to have one meal.

We stayed in the cute place called Mix. It had local delicacies, and Western food as well, but mostly Chinese dishes. Beside it was a massage place that looked rather reputable and stayed open quite late at 1AM. At the dinner time, we thought a while for deciding what we were going to eat for all the decent things on the menu. Finnally, we decided on spicy taro and spare-rib with rice, note the singular on the rib; stewed eggplant with rice; and a side of broccoli done in the sort of gooey-clear-brothy-stuff you usually get in the states with veggie sides but so much better. We enjoyed the meal with a domestic wine called The Great Wall. We kept viewing the scenery and the locals seemed to be very proud of it.

The next morning, I took a walk around town. The bus ride down here to Yangshuo was quite shocking. The driver was on the wrong side of the road most of the time, and I would look around in dismay as cars were either running off the road and onto the sidewalk or we would need to move to the right lane in the last second. What attracted me most was passing the "Guilin Normal University." However, we can't get into it to watch around. Suddenly we found ourselves being ushered off the bus at the edge of town, with no bus station. We can't find a taxi either, so we had to walk for about twenty minutes before finding one. Once we got to our hotel, it was like a light shining from heaven.

Guilin and Yangshuo are amazing places which can make me feel at home, or at least a little.
