Road Biking Rules For Children

One of the best things that a child can learn is how to ride a bicycle because it holds some unforgettable adventures. Adventures that they will be talking about for some time.

As our children are enjoying this part of their childhood, there are a few rules that will be helpful in keeping them safe when they are cycling on the roads.

Look First

It is always best for them to look behind them before changing lanes or making a turn. This will help to keep them safe from those who may not be obeying the road rules.

Use Left Arm For signaling

They should always use the left arm to show their riding intentions. Their intention should be given in about five to eight seconds before making their move. This will give the other riders and drivers enough time to adjust their intentions.

Right Turn

When they are making a right turn, they should bend the left elbow with their fingers pointing into the sky, to form the L Shape.

Left Turn

When they are making a left turn they should hold the arm straight out, as if trying to block someone.

Stop

To show that they are about to stop, the upside down L Shape, that is, left hand bend with fingers to the ground.

Crosswalks

They should always walk their bikes across a crosswalk instead of riding it across.

Call Out

When overtaking someone, they should call out the side, on which they are on, for example, "on your left."

Single File

When riding with friends, they should not ride side-by-side, but one behind the other.
