There are many risks that may increase the chance that an individual will develop the eating disorder referred to as anorexia nervosa. One of the biggest risks is associated with the family history of an individual.

Furthermore, those that experience issues with anxiety, emotional complications, and even exhibit signs of perfectionism and workaholism may develop this condition.
Mental Health Conditions and Traits
There are many mental health conditions and traits that may place an individual in a higher risk group for developing eating disorders. Those that suffer from anxiety disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, have high levels of stress, bipolar disorder, and a poor self-esteem may acquire an obsession when it comes to their appearance - particularly their weight.
Those that have an issue with control may also be more inclined to develop this eating disorder as well. In some cases, there are no other symptoms or traits displayed in the individual that develops anorexia. This is a serious medical condition that should be treated on a physical and a mental level.
