Many people are interested in knowing the recovery period for a rhinoplasty procedure. While this recovery period varies depending on the work that was accomplished as well as the type of rhinoplasty that was performed it can be generalized.

For starters after having undergone a rhinoplasty procedure you are most likely going to have to deal with a cast which will be placed over your nose as a means to protect it after the surgery. This cast will most likely stay on for a period of 7 days while at the same time you may also have to deal with bruising and swelling for up to 2 weeks after having undergone the procedure.

Different people will recover from the procedure at different rated but hen generalized the only major obstacles associated with the procedure is the cast, swelling and bruising. When it comes to the swelling and bruising though, they are not localized just to the nose but also to the entire nasal cavity. What this means is that some patients of a nose job have reported black eyes in association with the procedure. This is because the tear ducts share the nasal cavity and therefore the bruising and swelling can spread to the eye sockets as well as the entire upper lip.

Just make sure that you are adequately prepared for the recovery period of your rhinoplasty procedure. This means that unless you are comfortable going out with bruised and swollen eyes along with a cast on your nose then you will have to stay in doors for this time period. Make sure that you have everything you need to last you for 2 weeks if it is possible which also includes ice packs.

During the first couple of days it will be suggested that you use ice packs to help control the swelling associated with the surgery. From then you may also have to deal with some nasal bleeding for at least the first week if not more. This bleeding will not be profuse but is can happen and it will be similar to that of a standard nose bleed except it will usually stop on its own. After about the third day of recovery, you are most likely going to feel ready to return to your daily activities which in most cases are just fine as long as you are comfortable about leaving the house with the cast on.

The bruises around your eyes which will appear like a black eye will usually go away after the first week following the rhinoplasty procedure. You will have to still deal with congestion and swelling of the nasal cavity for up to two weeks following your surgery.
