If you are trying to alter your life for the better it usually starts on the inside with your mindset. If you've ever tried to make self-improvements, you know how challenging it could be. Whether it be finances, health, mentality, spirituality, or relationships, there could be unseen obstacles that are keeping you from the success you seek. That's because altering your life usually starts from within; your mindset.
It's all about awareness. If you were like me, you've tried to make those changes, got so far, then you hit a wall - nothing more. It took me years to realize that I had to start from the inside; I had to change my mindset.
Our mindset becomes programmed from the very beginning. This is due to our environment, who and what surrounded us, what we heard, saw, and experienced. Depending on the degree of these conditioned beliefs, the difficulty on creating change can vary.
Many of us aren't aware of the blueprint that befalls us. It's how we grew up, what our parents or caregivers said or did, what our culture or religion dictate, or what our experiences were as children. Some things are harmless; like how we bake chicken or what our views are on television brands.
But as we become adults, others can be harmful to our life or success; like how our parents dealt with money or if we grew up in an abusive home. These ideals were unknowingly instilled in us that we need to revise in our mindset. These are the conditioned self-limiting beliefs that we must first be aware of.
How do we recognize them? Let's take finances for example. If you're trying to start a business or simply trying to make more money, write down how your parents dealt with money. What did they say or feel about money or rich people? Did they say that money and rich people were evil? Did they spend money carelessly? Did one parent take care of the finances while the other avoided it? Did they say starting a business or making money was hard or useless? When you had an idea, did they shoot you down telling you it won't work? Or tell you how worthless you and your ideas were?
Write down anything that you witnessed growing up in the area that you are trying to improve. Which ones do you think are keeping you from success, from the life you want? Which ones are creating these self-limiting blocks in your system?
Become aware of the fact that these are conditioned beliefs that had absolutely nothing to do with you. These were someone else's views or it happened when you were an innocent child. You have nothing to do with it any longer. Free yourself from these self-limiting beliefs. It doesn't represent who you are today.
Whatever area in your life you're trying to improve - finances, relationships, mentality, or whatever it is - find out what it is that is holding you back. Write down what it was like growing up. Search deep to find any self-limiting beliefs. Acknowledge that these beliefs do not represent who you are then free yourself from them; let them go so you could move forward to finding the life and success you seek.
"Don't dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer." - Denis Waitley
