Many of today's quality flat iron hair straighteners utilize the technology of tourmaline, a gem that makes hair smoother due to its nature of producing a large amount of negative ions. Tourmaline, along with ceramic (which protects hair from heat damage), are often found in flat iron plates, including Solia hair straighteners. Solia products use the most modern flat iron technology to produce hair that is not only silky in texture, but also smooth.
Two Solia flat iron models, the ST114 and the ST134, have a unique feature called the Dynamic Alignment System, which makes certain that hair is protected from hot spots and tugging or pulling during the straightening process by automatically adjusting the plates. This makes sure that there is even heat distribution and an even amount of pressure being exerted at all times. Both the ST114 and the ST134 have ceramic/tourmaline plates, so your hair will be protected from heat thanks to the ceramic, as well as kept strong and smooth due to the tourmaline.
The plates have curved edges, so you can easily flip your hair out of under without any unsightly kinks. These flat irons can be used on damp hair, but make sure that your hair is not sopping wet as this could lead to damage. The only difference between the ST114 and the ST134 is the width of the plates; the ST134's plates are slightly wider (1 ¾ inches) than the ST114 (1 ¼ inches). If you have very long hair and prefer a very wide plate width (2 inches), you might find it difficult or time consuming to straighten your hair with these models, especially the ST114. The ST134 should not be used on hair shorter than 4 inches.
Pink flat irons are very popular right now, and Solia has produced its own limited edition pink flat iron that can also be used on damp hair. This straightener has 1 inch plates, so it would work best on shorter hair. The limited edition straightener also has ceramic and tourmaline plates.
