In the case of a fire, property insurance can help you. You may have to have property insurance as part of your lease agreement with your landlord. You will also need it to replace, or repair any damaged restaurant equipment.

Liability insurance covers you if someone gets hurt on your property or becomes ill. It is not your fault, but you are still covered.

There is liability if you serve liquor at your restaurant. Patrons can, and do get drunk. They can hurt others in their inebriated state. You are responsible for their actions. Liquor liability insurance is part of that responsibility.

The power goes out for a couple of days. Not only is your restaurant shut down, but your refrigeration equipment does not work. Business interruption insurance can cover you for the loss of business. Food contamination insurance will cover the food.

If you are in the food delivery business, you need business auto insurance. As part of your restaurant insurance package, you need to cover for any mishaps caused by your drivers.
