Resident Evil 5, for those who don't know is a survival-horror game, where you must fend off zombies, solve puzzles and do everything you can to stay alive. Since this is the seventh game in the series, and every game is heavily related, and the stories largely follow on from each other, there are many recurring characters that make an appearance in multiple games, such as Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield. Resident Evil 5 Sherry Birkin is one of these recurring characters, and she is the twelve year-old daughter of William Birkin - the Umbrella employee responsible for creating the G-virus (which turned everyone into zombies and brought about the apocalypse). Sherry is one of the secret playable characters in RE2, and despite only being 12 years of age she handles herself quite well.

Resident Evil 5 Sherry first makes an appearance in Resident Evil 2, where you find her hiding in the famous Police Station of Racoon City. Because Sherry was so close to the source of the G-virus she became infected, and it is your job to help her out before she mutates completely. After the game Sherry disappears, and it is reported that after her father died she was rescued by the government who now had her in their care.

In Resident Evil 5 Sherry is the one of the characters who fans were wondering if she was in the game. The reason for this is that there was certain screenshot of the game released showing a young girl that had an uncanny appearance to Sherry. Despite this, it turns out that it was just a coincidence, and the hunt for Sherry continues.
