1. Make sure that a tire repair kit is handy and with you while driving all the time. A tire repair kit basically contains the following; T handle with replaceable needle, special probe used for cleaning, set of steel screw, open eye insertion needle, a jar of insertion lube, and a steel wrench. If you are not familiar with the uses of these materials, then you can consult someone who is very good with cars or better yet, an auto mechanic.

2. When you have a tire that has been pierced do not immediately remove the object that pierced it. Put a tape right beneath or make sure that is has been properly marked in order to identify the exact spot. It can be very hard to find once you left it unmarked.

3. You can now remove the object by using pliers or vise grips. The special probe found in the tire repair kit can be used to clean and roughen the inside before plugging. Install the tire plug by pushing using the open eye insertion needle.

Tire failure can be very dangerous. Whether you have a flat tire or a worn out tire, this problem must be addressed right away to prevent further problems. Those who have experienced this will certainly agree. The proper maintenance and repair of old tires can save you from the risks of tire failure and blow out.
