The vampire legend may have begun in a big way with Bram Stoker's 1897 novel "Dracula" and the 1931 movie based on the Broadway stage play with Bela Lugosi as the vampire, Count Dracula, but vampires have been around a long time in many shapes and forms. Of course the Dracula costume worn by Bela will always be the most familiar and recognizable symbol of the notorious Gothic vampire.
Count Dracula lives in an old, decaying castle deep in the mist shrouded Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania. The Count makes himself appear to be a nobleman with an aristocratic background and from all outward appearances that's what he is, but in fact he is a centuries-old vampire who has many powers and abilities, among them being the power to turn into a bat. His nobleman's Dracula costume hides a sinister agenda as he secretly makes plans to travel to London.
Count Dracula was said to have the strength of 20 men and of course a bite on the neck will also turn his victim into a vampire. He is much less powerful in daylight so be sure to wear your Dracula costume only at night on All Hallows Eve to frighten the ghouls and goblins roaming the Transylvanian countryside.
Be sure to avoid garlic while wearing your Dracula costume or your powers might be weakened. A spaghetti dinner with garlic bread on Halloween night might be o.k., but only before you put on your Dracula costume.
You will have many powers as you portray the Count. You can climb up walls. You can transform into a bat or even surround yourself with a mist or fog to hide your presence. You can summon wolves in the night to help you carry out your diabolical plans. You can create storms by manipulating the weather in your Dracula costume, but don't get too carried away with your powers or you might get caught outside in the sunlight.
Watching the movie "Dracula" with Bela Lugosi as Halloween approaches would certainly create a chilling and spooky atmosphere that might inspire a Dracula costume for a night of trick or treating. There have been many remakes and adaptations of the original film but Bela Lugosi as the eerie, shadowy Count in his black cape and menacing glare captures perfectly the Gothic vampire of legend and folklore.
Recreate the legend of the Count roaming his fog shrouded castle in your own Dracula Vampire costume for Halloween night, just be sure to return home before the dawn or who knows what might happen?
The legend will live on as you dress up in this Gothic vampire costume who is said to be the most handsome vampire you will ever encounter!
Great fun for a costume party or to go trick or treating! And remember Mom's these costumes are not just for Halloween you little ones will have great fun playing with them throughout the year!
