Life used to be simpler. Fathers worked the fields while mothers managed their homes. If you were in the city then, an eight-to-five job is exactly that -- an eight-to-five job. But today, people are working long hours. As a matter of fact, many offices are increasingly becoming homes for their employees. This cannot be avoided nowadays given the tremendous advancement in the way people live their lives and do business.

No wonder then that most people are having a hard time handling worries and stopping anxieties. Living a demanding lifestyle makes everyone susceptible to stress or, worse, even a nervous breakdown. For many, the solution comes in the form of tranquilizers and other pacifier drugs. But experts believe that using narcotic medication is not the best answer to stress.

So here are some simple ways on how you can make your very own sanctuary in your workplace and start to beat stress.

Remember To Take Mini-Breaks

Office breaks are mandatory. But more than that, they are absolutely necessary for you to get around stress. If you can not avoid working for longer hours, make sure to take several mini-breaks. Simply put, going through your day in the office without snacks, lunch, or a ten-minute timeout from your computer screen is not good for both your mind and body.

Also, remember that having mini-breaks does not only benefit you. Workplace experts demonstrate that people who take mini-breaks can result to better office performance and increased productivity.

Breathe In Fresh Air

Believe it or not, some people forget how to breathe. And it's funny because breathing should come naturally. Why, it's part of every human being's instinct! But forgetting how to breathe properly, per se, is not the problem. What causes stress levels to shoot up is the poor quality of air that you take in.

The United States is one of the biggest pollutants on the planet. As such, many Americans do not get much-needed fresh air - especially in the cities. To remedy this problem, try to find a place in your area where there are lots of trees and plants, like parks for instance. By spending a few minutes in a place surrounded with plants, you allow healthy fresh air into your body. As the main source of oxygen, plants can help soothe and re-energize your tired mind and body.

Avoid Too Much Noise

If you think that the unruly sights and flashing lights in the city are the only elements that can disrupt your mind, think again. Noise pollution is as much a reality as other types of environmental pollution. Noise levels in the city can greatly contribute to your stress and its impact can not be ignored.

To ease stress due to excessive noise, again, you can take some time off in areas where there are plants. Noise levels seem to be less in wooded areas like the middle of the park. You can also give your auditory senses some breather by spending a few minutes in a vacant room in your office.

Indulge In Some Body Massage

Everybody knows that a massage is one of the best treatments for stress and tensions. Studies even show that through proper massage techniques, your blood circulation - and nervous system as a whole -- can improve. With a healthy blood flow, your body attains efficient distribution of oxygen and nutrients. And that matters a lot in your fight against stress.

If you are in the office, you can try on-call massage services. It's like ordering pizza delivery, except that you get a massage and not some thin bread dough with pepperoni toppings and cheese.

Indeed, stress has become a big part of everyone's life. But you need not suffer from it endlessly. Apart from the tips above, you can also use Serelax to ease stress.
