Going on a date can make you nervous enough; having a conversation strategy will ease your stress but also move you through the initial minutes of meeting your new date.

It is fun and exciting when conversation flow easily and conversation is one of the first ways to get to know your date better.

I have identified 3 tips to move you forward a great conversation on your next date.

1- Questions about them People like to talk about themselves, so ask question that relate to them. Do not monopolize the conversation with only your story. Keep the questions open ended so you can hear more then a yes or no.

2- Small talk questions

Don't overlook the small talk it is a great introduction and it can be revealing. My two favorite ones are:

How was your day?

The perfect conversation starter and this will give you a window into the type of day your date had but also how they express themselves.

What do you do for fun during the weekend?

Another way to have a fast inside on their activities, from spending the weekend watching movies or going mountain climbing, both of those activities are totally opposite, but revealing on which one would be a good match for you.

3- Important questions Once the small talk is history and you are still feeling positive about the flow of conversation, you can now start introducing questions that have more substance.

You don't want to be to investigating but you want to hear and feel if you are a match for a future date and a potential relationship.

For example:

What are the qualities you are looking for in your ideal relationship?

What was the last movie you saw or book you did read?

Tell me about your best friend?
