Depression haunts everyone. It is normally caused due to the negative response for different circumstances of life. Some of the reasons for depression are changes, illness, loss of life and property. Individual depression, at times, can prolong for a longer duration and can lead to serious consequences.
The major signs of depression are prolonged feeling of melancholy and sadness, sudden loss of interest in different activities, concentration problems, erratic sleep cycles, complications in the sex life, problems related to the physical self, lack of decision making judgment and energy. These symptoms can range from their milder to severely levels.
At times, depression can be really detrimental. Thus, it is important to take every symptom very seriously rather than neglecting them. Display of aggressive and impulsive behavior, open confessions of attempt to suicide and purposeful hurting of other individuals are some of the serious signs of depression.
The treatment of depression needs commitment, patience and regularity. To start with, personal counseling is indeed, very important in this respect. It provides a chance to the depressed individual to share about his personal feelings, attitude, and fluctuations in mood and reasons which have caused depression. Most of the times, the ones who are suffering from depression are not able to accept the circumstances and resist the implementation of changes in their lives. This is because they are hooked to just one perspective of the incident. Thus, through counseling, they get to know both sides of the matter and hence, are able to mould their intellect accordingly.
Apart from it, one should commit to a healthy diet. At times, the excess intake of food, especially the junk one, causes sleepiness and depression. Along with the diet, it is also important to get used to regular exercises. Furthermore, adequate amount of sleep is also necessary for treating depression. Those who are suffering from depression should try to sleep for at least seven to eight hours in a day because it will restore freshness and vitality.
Lastly, the best cure of depression is to reduce the amount of time spent in cultivating depressing thoughts. One should be active and engrossed in something or the other. This will cause the distraction of mind.
