Reducing Speeding Ticket Fines - Good Today and in the Long Run
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

The bad part about getting speeding tickets isn't just the inconvenience of being pulled over and having to report to court, but it's also the ticket fines.

In some states like California speeding ticket fines are nearing close to $300. Depending on what type of speeding you are doing as in how much over the limit you are going you can get hundreds of extra dollars of cost added on. Worst off the higher violation you are found guilty of, the more it will raise insurance rates.

What are some strategies to reduce speeding ticket costs?

Admitting guilt and paying the fine will always get you the maximum fine every time no matter what. So going to court and making some sort of plea or case is advantageous. Think of it this way, the time spent trying to get the ticket dropped or reduced it worth it since your automobile insurance rates will go up.

First of all, you can't admit to guilt on any level. Going to court and telling the judge you are really sorry and won't do it again makes it impossible for the judge to throw the ticket out because you have just admitted to the offense. The officer said you did and you said you did it so a fair judge must find you guilty.

There very well may be extraneous circumstances like you didn't realize what the speed limit was on that street after turning onto it. It would be better to try to get some sort of visual proof than to admit guilt.

If you feel you are losing in court, you can also go to a strategy that won't help you get the ticket dropped completely but may save you some money. Ask for a reduced penalty because of some circumstance or ask for traffic school. If you have a fairly good driving record, traffic school will be much cheaper than the ticket and your insurance company won't raise your rates.

There are some complex court strategies involving questioning the officer, questioning the method by which you were pulled over, and questioning how you actually violated the law as written in your local area.
