I know what a lot of you are thinking, 25 pounds is not much. Well, for me it was. I have always been thin, up until about 2 years ago. All of the sudden, I looked at myself in the mirror and thought "Oh no, I look terrible. How could I let myself get so fat?" I felt terrible.
Yes, I had been noticing that my clothes were getting tighter and tighter. I guess I just had not wanted to accept the fact that I needed to lose weight. I was feeling uncomfortable, tired and lazy.
I decided that I wanted to get back to my "wedding date" weight, which was 116 pounds! I sat down and started thinking of all the things I needed to change in order to get to my desired weight. The most important thing to me was to look good to myself, my husband and my kids.
I not only wanted to look good, but I wanted to eat healthy, and be healthy at the same time. So, the first thing I stopped doing was going to fast food places. I know that type of food is not good for my body or my wallet! I also stopped buying the snacks at the grocery store.
The only snacks I would eat would be some type of raw vegetables, or sometimes popcorn - with no butter! I started drinking a lot of water. I tried to drink a gallon a day, but I was spending way to much time in the bathroom! So, I reduced down to 1/2 gallon a day. I put lemon juice or lime juice in my water.
I was never a water drinker before. I was a diet coke drinker. But not anymore! That is another thing I stopped buying. I started eating more vegetables, and more meats, poultry, and fish. I eat 5-6 times a day, but I take smaller portions and I use smaller plates. I also eat much slower so I start to feel full faster.
I used to eat fast and would eat way to much until I felt uncomfortable and overloaded. I basically cut out all bread, sugar, and white flour. I stopped eating the noodles and the sauces. The hardest thing for me was to stop eating candy bars, and chocolate products. I just love chocolate brownies!
I started walking more. Now, when I go to the store, I park further away. My kids tell me we could have just walked from home! I didn't join any gyms or exercise programs. I basically just changed my way of eating. Well, I lost my 25 pounds and I feel great! I look and feel better in my cloths. My husband tells me I look great, and my kids say "not bad for a mom"!
I admit, there were some hard times. I got tempted a lot, and yes, sometimes I did cheat! But I stuck with it and keep telling myself it was worth it. Give it a try. Be relaxed and take it day by day. Be proud of yourself and don't give up!
