Read About These 2 Weight Loss Myths That Equate To Garbage Information

Expert Author Jared DiCarmine

Weight loss information is all over today's media, internet, articles, magazines, radio, podcasts, and television. There are billions of dollars spent on gadgets, potions, supplements, special diets, books, manuals, and gym memberships all in the quest to get a nice, lean, look. Guess what, you don't need any of this stuff. I am going to give you 2 of the most sought after myths in the fitness industry today and expose right here for your very eyes.

Myth 1: You can eat carbs and still lose weight. This myth has so many different variables depending on the person that it's crazy. However, I will explain each one to the best of my ability. You see, the body needs carbs to function. However they are not needed in a diet. You can still function and live a normal life without carbs. If I fed you nothing but carbs for a year and fed the next person protein and fats, you will die within a year, while the other person will be just fine. Your brain prefers glucose to function, but can function on ketones. Now, if you are an athlete and trying to cut weight, then you will need some carbs in your diet because of all the activity you are performing on a daily basis. However, if you are the average person who is overweight and trying to get lean, then you don't need as many carbs. The leaner you are, the more insulin sensitive you are and the opposite is true as well. The heavier you are, the less carbs you need in your diet because you are more insulin resistant, this is what diabetics are. By cutting out your carbs during a weight loss phase, you are forcing the body to start feeding on its fat stores for energy.

Myth 2: Lift light weights to get lean and lose weight. This again is a stupid fact that I don't know where it came from, but is really childish. Physiologically, the body is not going to break down fat for you to perform high reps in a resistance training program. The first phase of energy metabolism is the phosphagen system, which will give you 3-6 seconds of energy, next is the ATP PC system which will provide the rest as well as glycogen that is stored within the muscle cell. No fat will be broken down to perform the work. Besides, you need to lift heavy weights in order to force your body to retain the muscle you have while on a low amount of calories.

These are just some of the myths that I see on a daily basis that I wanted to dispense. Use them and see the results for yourself.
