It is one thing to listen to the music that you enjoy at a reasonable level when you are by yourself and there is no one within hearing distance, but when you are in your personal vehicle and you are pulled up to a stoplight, it is probably in your best interest to turn the music down.

There are many people who blast their radios so loud- people who actually have the factory issued stereos removed from their vehicles so that they can replace them with gigantic, booming sound systems that you swear would shatter your windows if you turned the notch on your stereo up just once more. That being said, most people who blast their car stereos are more than well aware that there are laws prohibiting excessively loud music from being played on car stereos when you are in such close proximity to other people. Police officers actually issue citations to people for having their music turned up too loud in their vehicles because it is considered noise pollution.

I can distinctly remember several occasions where I have been stopped at a traffic light and have felt the monstrous vibrations of the person's car behind me. Not only was the music loud and extremely offensive (containing cursing and other suggestive language), but I couldn't help but think, "What if I had a small child in the car with me who had to listen to this disgusting music being played at full volume? How would I explain the trite lyrics to a child?" These are things to keep in mind when you are listening to music. Simply think about how you would feel if the roles were reversed.
