How quick do you want your car insurance quote?  The usual answer is instantly... I've got better things to do than wait for an insurance agent to call me back.  I recently wrapped up a quote on my new Chevy Malibu in 14 minutes!

The Internet has completely changed the way we shop for many things.  Five years ago, I wouldn't think of going on-line for insurance.  My motto was "Only buy things on-line that you don't have to try on, and never buy something that you need an experts help with".  Now, I still don't buy clothes, hats or shoes on line, but I'm much more comfortable with auto insurance on line.

I spent quite a bit of time going over my insurance policies. There are many variables to consider, before I could feel comfortable.  I wanted to know about car insurance deductibles, uninsured motorists, underinsured motorist, medical coverage, bodily injury liability, comprehensive coverage, collision coverage, rental reimbursement, emergency road service and other questions. I wanted to know how much was enough quick car insurance coverage.  I wanted to know if there were areas in discount car insurance that I could cut and still be protected.
 
Security blanket
For years, I didn't know anything about car insurance. I just knew that my insurance agent handled it, and he was a good guy.  He wouldn't let me down, because he had my home owners insurance and the real gem...my business policy.  Now, I have enough information to feel like I can let go of my security blanket (my agent) and enter the brave new world of car insurance on-line.

Guess what?
In my first transaction, with a very reputable company, I bought my policy on-line and saved about 17% from my previous company. I don't feel like I stabbed my insurance friend in the back, either.  It's a tough old world out there. I have had to learn to adapt to a lot of different situations, and my ex-agent will just have to adapt, also. My advice is to do your homework, feel comfortable with the company you choose, and get that car insurance quote on-line.
