Quality That Can't Be Beat is the Time Honored Martin Acoustic Guitar

A cabinet-makers son, Christian Frederick Martin Sr. Left his home in Germany to study beneath a master guitar maker in Vienna, named Johann Stauffer in seventeen ninety-six. This is when and where the CF Martin Company originated and Christian made the first Martin acoustic guitar.

CF Martin is a world-renowned company and has always had a reputation for building extraordinary guitars. As time passed the Martin Company kept designing new models to keep up with the populace requirements and still produce many different models of their guitars.

Many models of these instruments have a letter designation combined that accompanies the model number. The dreadnought, which is a guitar with a larger body and deeper bass sound, is designated with the letter D.

This was not a popular model in the beginning. People were accustomed to a smaller guitar with a higher sound. Country musicians realized first that the dreadnought was perfect for a nice contrast to the higher pitched violins and mandolins played in this type of music.

When the model has a J after the number the guitar is a jumbo. The jumbo is even larger than the dreadnought and has a louder fuller sound. The grand auditorium guitar is designated with the letter OOOO or M. The grand auditorium is an instrument that has a larger bottom or bout and a smaller width at the top of the body. The auditorium or folk guitar is more like the original size of the first Martin and has a OOO on the label.

A cutaway was designed with the lead guitar player in mind to allow access to upper frets and is designated with C on its label. With over a century of experience and workmanship, a Martin acoustic guitar is a wise choice in a market inundated many choices of guitars.
