The 4 Things Worth Fussing About...
In the introduction (titled 'How Rich?') to his book 'How To Get Rich', Felix Dennis writes:
"Rich enough to buy the only two things apart from health and love worth fussing about in life. Time. And the option of not having to be in any particular place on any particular day doing any particular thing in order to pay the rent or the mortgage."
Felix Dennis a man worth an estimated $400-900 million US dollars is stating that the only 4 things worth fussing about in life are: Health, Love, Time and Freedom.
You probably won't be surprised to know that this got me thinking about just how brilliant qigong exercises are. Let's take a quick look at how qigong can help you to have the 4 things in life, that a very wealthy man considers are the only 4 things worth fussing about.
Health - this one is obvious. Qigong is the art of deliberately managing your bodies vital energy to improve health, increase vitality, increase longevity, develop internal force, improve the mind and cultivate the spirit. So not only are qigong exercises brilliant for physical health, but they're also brilliant for your emotional, mental and spiritual health.
Love - Remember you must start with self love. If you don't love yourself, it's really hard to accept the love of others. Qigong exercises helped me to come to terms with who I am and I've seen this repeated numerous times in my own students. Qigong helps you to realise that you are unique. That your life and what you have to offer the world is precious.
Qigong exercises can help you to appreciate what you have. From personal experience I have found that I have grown to treasure the relationships I have. And have you ever noticed how when you value something, you tend to make more of an effort to maintain it? When you value something or someone, you don't take them for granted or neglect them.
Time - Forget spending an hour in the gym 3 or 4 times a week. Forget the half hour journey there and the half hour journey back again. Forget about going to the gym after work, and then getting home just in time to get something to eat, watch an hour of rubbish on the TV and then go to bed. Forget about getting home from the gym and being too tired to play with your children or have a great conversation with your partner. Forget paying a fortune in gym membership fees.
Forget all that if you practice Qigong exercises. 15 minutes (or 30 if you're really keen) a day in the privacy of your own home or garden can save you massive amounts of time. Let's do the math:
Going to the gym, 4 times a week = 4 hours in the gym, 4 hours travel = 8 hours a week + your gym membership fees.
Practicing Qigong Exercises, 15 mins a day = 7 days X 15 mins = 1 hr 45 mins a week (or 3.5 hours if you're super keen) + zero membership fees.
That's a saving of up to 6 hours 15 mins a week and whatever fees you pay for your gym membership. The question you need to ask yourself is 'what would you do with all that extra time and money you've saved?'
Freedom - Life is so much easier when you feel good - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. You make better decisions, you make a better impression on those around you, you produce better work, you are more creative and fun to be with.
Qigong Exercises can give you the courage to explore new avenues and think in different ways. All of which helps to increase your chances of: "not having to be in any particular place on any particular day doing any particular thing in order to pay the rent or the mortgage'.
And yet the sad fact is that so few people have even heard of qigong, let alone practice it!
