Most of us know that a healthy diet and a good exercise program is important to reduce the risk of certain health disorders, including heart problems, diabetes, obesity, and others. However, recent studies also suggest that a healthy lifestyle is vital for mental health and other conditions related to the brain. Healthy eating can go a long way in preventing a number of conditions. The advice for people who want to protect their mental health is to eat right, think right, and exercise.

Here are some tips on how to protect your brain, live healthy, and lose weight.

1. Eat healthy foods. Though most people say that eating healthy can actually ruin their budget, this is not always true. Though a diet made of organic foods and fresh produce can be more expensive than refined foods, you can still save money for them by cutting back on sugary drinks and snacks which are actually unhealthy for your brain.

2. Include protein in your diet. Did you know that adding proteins to your diet can actually provide a continuous supply of amino acid tryptophan to your brain? It is a protein compound that affects the brain greatly and influences mood as well. So go ahead and eat a good portion of protein each meal. Eggs, milk, cheese, beans, and fish are good for you.

3. Drink adequate fluid. This helps you in a number of ways. First, not drinking enough water will impact your mental health. Dehydration can affect your feelings and your performance as well. It also helps in losing weight and maintaining it.

Lastly, exercise at least 30 minutes daily. You would feel the results just after you walk, jog, run, or do other forms of exercise. You would feel relaxed and you would definitely feel your brain functioning well.

Now you want to live longer, look younger, and lose weight, right?
