I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff and his brother Jon way back in 2007. Or maybe it was 2008. That's how long ago it seems to me. It was almost a whole 'nother life. But I remember something REALLY important about Jeff.

He was legitimate. He actually knew what he was doing. He wasn't just some "computer kid" gaming the system to make a few bucks online. And more important than that, he knew what he was talking about.

And I say that because I actually met some of the other so-called "gurus" during that time and a lot of them were a sham. I don't want to call out anyone, but let's just say there's a lot of talk out there in the guru world vs. actual results. I was new to the game back then. I had a made a few bucks in the earlier days of blogging and started teaching my method to a few students.

I can actually remember being at Big Seminar in Atlanta and talking about some of my "secret" strategies and techniques and to my astonishment I heard some of the gurus listening in to what I was saying. Even crazier, a few of them wrote down a few things that I told them.

I was SHOCKED. I was a practical newbie teaching some gurus...I was a little proud of myself, but I was also scared because if these people actually knew so little, what could they REALLY be teaching their customers?

Hearing him speak at a conference was like listening to a modern day Moses guiding us marketers through the internet wilderness. He spoke with conviction, compassion, and best of all competency. He knew something we didn't. He understood the power of using a product launch to literally rake in millions of dollars in a matter of days or even hours.

I took notes like a madman, my hand racing faster than a speeding bullet. This was making sense, almost too much sense. I had to put his system to work.

All through 2007 I worked on a program of mine, it was called the BOA Method. You may have heard of it, you might not have. Not a big deal. Anyway, I plugged away for months creating this program with a group of beta students. They were great. We worked together growing their businesses and learning from each other.

When the time came to sell this product, I knew what I had to do. I already had a copy of Product Launch Formula. I actually worked with a friend of mine over at her apartment. We'd sit there EVERYDAY, day after day, going step by step through Jeff's course.

We just kept at it. Whatever Jeff Walker suggested, we did. This included sending out JV (Joint Venture) invite packages to over 100 potential partners. And we even put a toy snake in the package. It was cool because a few months later I was watching a video by Joel Comm and what did I see? My snake! He opened the video with my snake in his hand. LOL. Kind of cool, right? A NY Times Best Seller got my package and kept part of it!

(Incidentally, he couldn't be part of my launch because he was launching on the same day!)

So, the time was inching closer. I was working on the sales copy to sell the course. And that's where Frank Kern comes into play. Although I can't get into in this article, suffice it to say it was quite an experience getting some help from Frank. I actually spent about 12 hours writing a GREAT report (I thought so anyway) all about the internet marketing industry.

It had cool acronyms and all that sort of stuff, but I remember Frank wrote back saying basically it was terrible. Funny now. Scary back then. The launch was quickly approaching. So, we went back to the drawing board and reworked a lot of stuff. Frank gave us a great headline we ended up using.

So, the big day came. We had the launch! Partners were on board, emails were going out. In only a few days, we sold just shy of $80,000 of the product. The crazy thing was the product only sold for $197 so we sold A LOT. But I was really mad because I was hoping to do a 7 figure launch.

Looking back, I see how almost impossible that would have been with a product that low-priced. If you notice, the "guru" launches make millions because of the price point. If your product is $1997 you only have to sell 500 copies to make 1 Million. Seems doable, right?;)

So, in hindsight, I should have charged more. A lot more. But, I did provide a lot of people with some REALLY good training that was super affordable.

But, I did have one card up my sleeve. Actually, a couple cards. One, everyone who bought in was part of a $77 per month continuity program. I had a great stick rate. Two, within 3 months of the launch I did a live event with one of my partners and we sold it out at $5,000 a seat. 50 seats.

So, that one launch absolutely, totally, changed my life. Plus it helped me get my original list of about 15,000 people. I've made a lot of money just from building that list. Of course, I also manage to give them a lot of value as well with lots of cool free stuff. And that's important.

In many, many ways I owe my success to the man that cracked the code and figured out how the product launch formula and how to make a lot of money with it.

I know this isn't your typical review, but I wanted to just write from the heart. And I wanted to end this article by giving Jeff Walker a much deserved thank you. Thank you for creating PLF and sharing it with the world.
