The speed with which you can grow your business enterprise depends upon the speed with which you are able to run your operations, in other words your productivity rate. Only when you have efficient and productive systems and operations in place can you think of expanding your product offering and services to grow your business.
One habit that builds inefficiency is the habit of procrastination. Putting off tasks that have to be done with today have to be completed on time and not tomorrow. When you have tough tasks ahead, finish simple ones first before concentrating on the complex ones.
If you have a tough task of a job on hand, make sure you finish that first. Any attempt to postpone it will only build up a negative pressure on you and build an aversion to the task. Before this happens, complete the task and go on to do the things you enjoy working on.
Learn to prioritize your task and work on to do list based on your priorities. This is the only way to do things efficiently by focusing on things that require to be completed now.
While prioritizing do not leave out the tasks with lesser priority. They would be important too. Ensure you complete all tasks in the order of priority.
All of us are in the habit of checking our mails as soon as we get into the office. This can be a productivity trap that you should watch out for. It deviates our attention to things, which may not be urgent, and we ignore urgent and important tasks on hand and go on with our mails.
The best and ideal way is to start your day dealing with office issues and tasks on hand for an hour before attending to your mails.
Do not waste time. Stick to your to do list and complete then as fast as possible without distractions. Switch off the mail alerts on your computer as well as your mobile for they can be a big distraction while working.
