Practical Advice in Ending a Relationship With Someone You Love

It's such a cliché but the phrase "There's no easy way to break somebody's heart" is so true. Ending a relationship with someone you love may be the most difficult thing to do and there are no steadfast rules on how to do it.

The most important thing that you have to do is to be certain that you really want to put a close to a relationship. Don't make decisions when you are angry. We tend to say things that we don't really mean when we are in the "moment" and regret it later on. I'm guilty of that! If you have to think about it a hundred times then do so. You can't break somebody's heart and after a couple of days, you crawl back to him or her when you get lonely on a movie night.

If you are absolutely positive that you no longer want to be with someone, the next step when ending a relationship with someone you love is to pick an appropriate place and choose the right time. They say there's no perfect time to break up but oh well, you don't have to do it on his or her birthday! Avoid holidays, special occasions and your anniversary at all costs. Be sensitive enough to know where and when you should end the relationship. The less public, the better but beware of an overly remote location just in case the person on the receiving end goes berserk and loses control. You don't want a violent ending!

When ending a relationship with someone you love, you have to be honest. Don't beat around the bush and try to sugar coat everything. That will never help! Tell your ex the real reason why you broke up with him or her no matter how hurtful it can be. Nobody said that truth never hurts! Turn the tables and you'll know what I mean. I'm pretty sure you would appreciate it if your ex told you the truth. It doesn't mean though that you have to be really insensitive and not care about the other person's feelings. There's always a better way in saying things.
