Every thought you think, every word you say to yourself and out loud is an affirmation. These words and thoughts confirm beliefs about ourselves, our environment and create our life experience in every moment. Affirmations help develop a powerful and positive mental attitude towards your life and your goals.
A positive attitude and state of mind is essential in the long term success of your goals. Imagine having this kind of POWER to EMPOWER. You can take failure and turn it into success. You can take success and twist it to a whole new level. Your positive mental attitude is your fuel for success. Affirmations are great ways to build your confidence and help you stay on track.
How do I know if I am using positive or negative affirmations?
You will know because of the way you feel. Your words and thoughts affect how you feel about yourself or any given situation. It has been proven that nearly 90% of our thoughts are negative and each negative thought or word is a negative affirmation. For most people, it's easier to accept a negative affirmation than a positive. These negative thoughts support and validate our negative internal beliefs. E.G. I am fat, I am always sick, I am so unhealthy...
How do I use Positive Affirmations?
One great thing to do is create affirmations that relate to your goal. These affirmations must be in the stated in the positive and the present tense. Start by thinking about your goals and the areas in your life you would like to improve on. Think about how you want your life to be.
Make a list owning between 4 - 6 affirmations. List the most important ones first. Ensure each statement is in the positive and present tense; focus on what you want instead of what you don't want.
What you want?
For example:
I want a healthy body
Your affirmation:
I have a healthy strong body
List between 4-6 positive present tense affirmations.
What do I do with my affirmations?
Post your affirmations in your bathroom, bedroom, on your desk, anywhere! Look at these affirmations and read them aloud to yourself everyday. Memorize and visualise each affirmation as it pertains to your existence, repeat them in the morning in front of the mirror and the evening before bed. The more you do this, the more you will begin to believe they are true. Have you ever told a story and added a little extra each time, soon after you could no longer remember the old story or what was really true. This is the same with affirmations. After a while, you will believe what you are telling yourself.
