As women, many of us spend their days going through the motions instead of investing our days being in each moment. One way to become more positive is to actually be in the moment you are in. Multitasking is something we do to get through our day. It is not something that allows us to be in the moment. Because we have so much to do, being in the moment may take some practice but you will notice the quality of your life improve dramatically. If you are a recovering multitasker, you may want to start slow to get the hang of it.
Here are a couple examples:
Walking the dog
I often see people walking their dogs while involved in a phone conversation to end all phone conversations; waving their arms, speaking loud enough for the whole block to hear, and completely ignoring their dog.
If you are walking your dog, take your cell phone for emergencies but stay off of it until you are finished walking your dog. This is positive time to spend with someone you love, someone who loves you more unconditionally than anyone in your life will probably ever be capable of. This is someone whose entire day revolves around when they get to see you again. How dare we disrespect such devotion by hurrying a walk or talking on the phone during the precious time our friend has dreamt of spending with us all day!
As a positive woman, you know tiny adjustments like this make a huge difference in your overall attitude and create moments that take your breath away.
Exercising
You've probably seen people exercising at the gym or outdoors who are on the phone completely distracted from their body.
Working out is a positive time to honor your body and being grateful it works properly enough to allow you to exercise. Distracting yourself with conversations about anything else, especially gossip or the challenges of your family or workplace not only diverts your focus but can have a negative affect on your health. Instead, be positively in the moment. Feel your muscles as they flex and notice your heartbeat that you assume will always be there. Feel the strengthening of your core and know this is going to enhance your health and energy.
Focus on good, empowering thoughts while you exercise and you will find your life moving along a more relaxed yet powerful path, as a more positive woman.
So as you go through your day wanting to be a more positive woman, instead of just getting through it, pay attention to exactly where you are, who is around you, what you mean to them, what they mean to you, how you feel emotionally and physically.
Notice which multitasking is beneficial like listening to empowering audios during your commute or taking a couple minutes to breathe deep and practice gratitude while your computer reboots or even practicing acceptance while your least favorite coworker speaks at the meeting.
Being a positive woman means showing gratitude for your life by being in the moment. And when you need to multitask, do it as quickly as possible so that you can return to the precious moments of your life. These are the things you will remember when you look back on what is really important and you will be grateful you were actually there, focused on what counts.
