Positive Encouragements for Teens Dealing With Cyberbullying and Self-Esteem Issues

Recently Katherine Schwarzenegger was interviewed by GMA (Good Morning America) regarding her new book, "Rock What You Got." During this interview she shared how she experienced cyber bullying and self esteem issues. Even with parents who are celebrities, Maria Shriver & Arnold Schwarzenegger, she still had to deal with many of the same issues as other teens.

Cyberbullying is any harassment that occurs via the Internet. Vicious forum posts, name calling in chat rooms, posting fake profiles on web sites, and mean or cruel email messages are all ways of cyberbullying.

With this mind, the message that Katherine shares when speaking or in her book is a great start to encouraging positive encouragements. She shares that it was advice from her mother that helped her deal with what she went through as a teen regarding cyber bullying and self esteem issues. Because she had such a solid relationship with her mom, it helped her come out with a healthy view of herself. Now in college, Katherine wants to encourage young women to feel good about themselves and to be positive about their body image.

If you are teen and are being cyberbullied or you know some who is, there is help for you. Below is a quick list of things that you can do to get the help that you need to over come your cyberbullying:

• Report it to an adult such as your parents or a teacher.
• Talk to a close friend about it if you don't have an adult to talk to so that they can help you find an adult.
• Keep documentation of what has been happening to you so you can include it when you report to an adult.
• Don't wait to long to report it. As soon as it happens, report it.
