If you have been to Portugal, surely you must have sampled the world-renowned Portuguese gourmet. The country's culinary masterpieces boast the combination of numerous food cultures coming from different civilizations. It had been centuries ago that Portugal was under the hands of numerous conquerors such as the Romans, Phoenicians, Carthaginians and many others. They too have seen various civilizations, which have greatly influenced their own. With all the influences they received from their colonizers, they have shaped their own culture.

Even without the detailed account of Portugal's rich historical heritage, one will be able to see that it is a country with a colorful past, which have contributed to the shaping of their rich culture. Among the most affected aspects of their way of life is cuisine. Because of the many resources left by foreign inhabitants, they gained much knowledge about food. With this, they were able to create a special form of Portuguese art of cooking.

Among the most popular parts of Portuguese cuisine are the pine nuts and the olive oil. These two are actually considered as two main cash crops of the country and contribute well to their economy. At the same time, these two commodities are abundant within the country. In order to enrich and enhance the flavor, aroma and quality of their gourmet cooking, these two special ingredients are utilized.

It is no mystery why gourmet food from Portugal is so known around the globe. They have mixed together special techniques and established high class recipes which will make every food enthusiast's mouth water. Apart from being able to taste traditional Portugal gourmet flair, one will be able to experience the diversity of European food, since the latter is considered as the roots of the former.

With all this in mind, you should not hesitate to bask in Portugal gourmet if you have the chance since you will savor food at its finest.
