Portrait Tips For the Perfect Bride

If you are getting married soon, posing for your bridal portrait is a highly anticipated event that should be a culminating experience of all your hard preparation work. You want the results to be perfect! Here are some portrait tips that will help you look like the perfect brides in all of your photographs.

--Consider it a "dress" rehearsal for the real thing. No, you're not getting married right after your bridal portraits are taken, but you should look as if you could walk right down the aisle if you wanted to. With that in mind, go all out when prepping for your portraits and don't hold back.

--Practice lots of looks ahead of time. The time of your sitting is not when you want to be experimenting. Spend a couple of weekends prior to the event trying out different hair style and makeup combinations. If you are wearing a head piece, be sure to include it in your experimentation.

--Figure out which poses suit you best. Do you jut out one hip? Do you keep your arms close to your side? Do you cock your head one way or the other? Enlist the help of both your best girlfriend and a full-length mirror for this one. None of us has a perfect body, and we all have our "good" sides and features we want to emphasize and de-emphasize. Put on your dress and spend an afternoon critiquing which types of poses make you look your best. Your photographer will help too, of course, but no one knows you better than you.

The bridal portrait will become a cherished memory for years to come, and it will be something you'll show your children and grandchildren some day. It's worth doing a little "homework" first to make sure you look like the "perfect bride" when your portraits are taken.
