Poor Time Management
Is a very common occurrence. Many people complain about it, almost all try to rectify it, and a few actually do. They will all tell you it takes determination and hard work to change poor habits.
I Hear Many People Complaining
About not having time to do this or that and about how much work it is to change dysfunctional behaviors into functional ones. But you know...it's just like anything else, the more you do it the easier it gets.
I Think Part of the Problem
Has to do with the fact that we don't like to admit that our horrible life is (gasp!) our own fault. Yep, it's a direct result of our own action...or inaction. If we did that we couldn't blame it on our boss or our kids.
You Have To Know
That until you realize that your life is the direct result of how you manage your time then you can't change anything. Too, you have to be able to (honestly) recognize the symptoms which may include:
Watching too much TV
Messy house
Poor menu planning
Chronic lateness
Missing appointments
Poor health
All Of The Above
Are simply the result of dysfunctional habits. If you'll think about it, you probably hear people-i.e., friends and family, alike-complain about most, if not all, of the above. It's just natural that people want to complain, but not necessarily actually change, a problem (especially if it's one of their own creation).
If You Are Serious About Changing
Your poor time management habits then the first thing you need to concentrate on is getting your daily to-do list under control. If you were paying attention to it you would not have the above problems because it's hard to sit on your butt and watch TV all day when you're working or taking care of things that need to be done-i.e., taking care of the items on your to-do list.
If You Feel That You Have Taken Care of Everything
That needs done and you actually do have time to spend hour after hour sitting mesmerized by the boob tube then you might want to up your standards...maybe rethink what defines clean or completed. Maybe see if the kids are still alive and kicking.
For Those Who Are Totally Serious
And they actually do have extra time-congratulations. You have conquered the infamous to-do list which is the absolute first step in rectifying what used to be poor time management.
Now that you have the things you need to do out of the way you have time for some of the things that you want to do.
