Picking up girls has never been easier with so many gurus in the field sharing their wisdom and secrets through books, TV shows, YouTube, and workshops. Many of these pick-up artists have branded their pick up strategies into distinct products that offer bachelors different ways of successfully approaching and picking up women. Although men have been picking up women since the dawn of civilization, there wasn't any help for the average joe until 1970 when Eric Webber starting selling his book How to Pick Up Girls in the back of Playboy magazine.

The story goes that Eric Webber went on to sell millions of copies of this basic but informative manual that gave pick up advice to young bucks. So the pick up market was born and today there are hundreds of books, videos, and workshops for guys to improve their women-getting skills or what is better known today as "game." For the average joe these products are a blessing because most men are not going to be rock stars, big business gurus, or captain of the football team where women come fast and easy.

The pick up industry got a lot of media buzz with the release of Neil Straus' New York Times best selling book The Game but what really got the industry attention was when VH1 picked up pick-up artist Mystery's realty show entitled 'The Pick Up Artist' back in the summer of 2007. The show takes eight so-called chick repellents and attempts to turn them into chick magnets, with one being crowned "Master Pick-Up Artist" at the show's conclusion. The show garnered enough viewers that it made a return in 2008 for a second season.
