Personalised Chocolate Gifts to Go? Will Travel

Expert Author Tola Popoola

Not once but twice I've had clients travelling to hot countries with personalised chocolates. How to keep them in good condition is their top concern. No one wants to present dripping hot would be chocolate favours. So if you're also en-route for your destination wedding on a sunny terrain then keep these tips handy for your personalised chocolate gifts:

1. Get a plastic bowl with a lid: Look for something that will fit your suitcase and can be padded with clothes. Put your personalised chocolates in it and keep it sealed. If you can't fit a bowl or container in your luggage then any bag with a zip would do even a freezer bag. Just be sure to follow all the other tips below. If possible keep them in your hand luggage. You shouldn't have too much trouble with security since it's not liquid.

2. Watch out for the Sun: Once you've arrived at your destination keep your personalised chocolate bars or truffles away from any direct heat or sunlight. If you leave them in your suitcase or bag, make sure neither is near a window.

3. Think cool: Have you noticed your feet always get cold first when the temperature drops? Yes. That's where your chocolate belongs, as close to the ground as possible. For the next few days before you need them, study the room or the house. Where's the coolest place? The best time to spot this is very early in the morning or late at night when temperatures are low. Once, you've found the coolest room, which I must warn will not be the kitchen as during the day it's bound to get warmer, look for a secure place like a cupboard to store your chocolates. You may want to leave them in whatever container they've travelled in.

4. Think secure: Have you kept them far and safe from tiny busy fingers of either rats, cats or your cute grandchildren? You can never tell if there are rodents in a place. You don't want to find out using your chocolate favours as a bait anyway. So, keep them safe and secure.

5. Don't think fridge: It's not wise especially in a tropical country. The last thing you want is for the chocolates to experience a sudden drop in temperature. It's the whole essence of keeping them in a container.

Of course, these tips are not exclusive to those planning a wedding. I have experienced temperatures of up to 32 degrees Fahrenheit seated in my study in a temperate country. If you're ordering personalised chocolate however or have any chocolate you want to keep in top shape then feel free to follow the advice.
