Personal Chef Training - Tips on Herbs and Spices

When starting your personal chef training you run into situations that you are not prepared for. One of these situations involves herbs and spices and what to do when you run out of certain types. Herb and spice substitution is actually something can happen to you anywhere. Whether you are meeting a client or cooking in your own house. A common problem when performing your personal chef service is to run out of herbs and spices, or have a client run out of herbs and spices. Do you want a solution?

Know these common herb and spice substitutions. You can often replace Oregano with Basil or Thyme or vice-versa. Another commonly used that needs to be replaced is Allspice, which can be replaced by Cinnamon, Cassia, Nutmeg, Mace, or Cloves. Aniseed can be replaced by Fennel Seed or Anise Extract. Cardamom something that most people never keep handy, can be replaced by Ginger. Chili Powder which is used all the time and people constantly run out of it can often be replaced by Hot Sauce plus Oregano and Cumin. This is very useful for making chili dishes and the like. Another seasoning that many people don't always keep handy but need on occasion is Poultry Seasoning. In order to replace Poultry Seasoning you can use the solution of Sage, Thyme, Marjoram, Savory, Black Pepper and Rosemary. All of the replacements are very useful once you start your personal chef training.

Another way you can deal with this is to plan ahead and keep a portable pantry that you bring with you that contains a lot of these herbs and spices handy so you don't need to worry about running out when you go to a clients house. This is something that you can prepare for when going through your personal chef training buy making a list of the items that you have and then putting a check next to them when you get low so you know you need to go get more after your cook date.

A major thing you need to do when starting your personal chef training is get comfortable with your herbs and spices, since herbs and spices play a major roll in your cooking. This will make your more confident as a personal chef and create better food that will please your clients. Happier clients makes returning clients and this leads to a successful business which is always the goal.
